Understanding and measuring an organisation’s carbon footprint is for many a daunting and complex process. It requires skill, expertise and time, all of which come at significant cost. Interpreting your business data and applying the correct emissions factors to calculate your footprint requires a thorough understanding of carbon footprinting and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol or other carbon reporting standard.
The Carbon Report has been designed as a simple and intuitive solution, however for many users this is the first time they have been tasked with documenting their organisation’s carbon footprint. Hence the process is underpinned by education and support which is provided as part of the solution.
To start your footprinting process, one of our consultants will conduct a workshop either online or face to face depending on location. The workshop has three main objectives:
- Education around a carbon footprint, what it entails and what data to gather
- Definition of the boundaries of the carbon footprint
- Training on how to use the online application
After the workshop we are always available via the telephone or email to provide answers to any questions you may have. Each workshop is typically between 1 and 2 hours and will need to include a representative who understands your business operations, a finance or operations resource as well as a facilities or building management resource if one exists.
The next stage in the process involves gathering and inputting data. Business data for emissions sources identified in the workshop will be gathered from backend financial systems, plant systems, admin records and/or suppliers.
Once all of your data is gathered and captured in The Carbon Report, a summary report is available for immediate download. Our consultants will sense check your data and query any discrepancies before releasing your detailed report which can be used for your business requirements.
The Carbon Report deconstructs GHG reporting complexity, incorporating best practice and recognised corporate standards into a cost effective web based solution. The offering has been designed with simplicity in mind, allowing end users, even with a rudimentary understanding of carbon emissions to deliver a “consultant class” carbon footprint report.

The Carbon Report is designed for all organisations, large and small. It allows them to participate in measuring and reporting their business carbon emissions. The solution offers a defined process which ring fences the boundaries of the audit, identifies business emissions sources and the data requirements and finally delivers a report based on the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard.
The solution includes the following features:
The Carbon Report is designed for all businesses, large and small, and produces a report based on the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard.
The GHG Protocol Initiative is a multi-stakeholder partnership of businesses, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), governments, and others convened by the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Launched in 1998, the initiative’s mission is to develop internationally accepted greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting standards for business and to promote their broad adoption worldwide.
The GHG Protocol is widely regarded as the standard for corporate GHG accounting and company reporting. From a carbon perspective, the protocol is analogous to the generally accepted financial accounting principles (GAAP) for a organisation’s normal accounting and reporting practices.

All greenhouse gas emissions are accounted for in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) as required by the GHG Protocol. This allows for consistency and like for like comparison.
The end product is an audit or carbon footprint report which can be used to communicate to shareholders, customers, corporate communications and employees. More importantly it is used as a baseline report to measure emissions savings in future years.
Knowlegable expertise completes the solutionMany of our clients do not know where to start when embarking upon a carbon footprint for their organisation. Our team of experts are just a phone call away and this support is included as part of your subscription. Over and above this, additional webinars and face to face workshops can be arranged over and above our initial workshop if required, should these be required to complete your reporting requirements.
